Description

InvisalignÂ® orthodontic treatment is a series of custom clear aligners that straighten your smile. Invisalign is ideal for adults who want to straighten their teeth without wearing traditional metal braces.

DR. RICCIARDI: Invisalign is extremely beneficial in bringing adults back into orthodontics. Adults they are out, they are working and not as accepted to wear the metal and the wires and everything. So with Invisalign it is clear, aesthetic, you can be talking to a colleague in your workplace and they won't even know that you are wearing it. What it is a clear plastic tray that they call aligner that with each progressive liner it will alter the teeth. So you wear each aligner for approximately two weeks, about 22 hours a day and you change the aligners every two weeks. Each aligner will move the teeth a certain amount. It is used in minor to moderate orthodontic movement, mostly on adults. And also we could use it for pre-prosthetic procedures to move teeth into alignment prior to doing veneers. Course of a number of weeks or months or whatever it takes to move your teeth to the desire position, you start wearing the aligners and that is it.
