Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus: Dentistry is an art as well as a science, and it certainly is. That's what attracted me most to become a dentist.
In my career, I've taken over 3,000 hours of continuing education. Through that, I keep up with all the different phases of dentistry, gum surgery, dental implants, root canals. That's pretty much the main component that I use to stay current. Then I read journals and periodicals. Also, with my staff being the experts that they are, I'm also able to learn from them.
Really getting to know the patient is also a large component of patients feeling comfortable. Once you get the patients comfortable, they develop confidence in you, which makes it easy to approach the treatment that they need.
When patients come in, we pretty much will explain our level of expertise, our continuing patient, and also want them to make sure that this is the right place based on the services that we perform here. Patients, once they know that, they gain confidence. Sometimes patients read about us on the website, they read our reviews, and once they come in the door, we just try to make sure that they know that they've come to the right place.
My father was a dentist, and even though we never got a chance to practice together, I learned a lot from my father with respect to treating patients with respect, treating them with compassion, and delivering the utmost quality in dentistry that we do. And I'm just trying to continue that same tradition here at Brooklyn Heights Dental.
